‘Sara & Aida’ to hit screen soon

Iranian cinematic film ‘Sara & Aida’ directed by Maziar Miri is to hit Iranian cinema theaters soon.

Iranian cinematic film ‘Sara & Aida’ directed by Maziar Miri has been scheduled to hit Iranian cinema theaters soon.

The film written by Amir Arabi will be on screen starting from August 9, 2017 at Tehran’s Azadi Cinema Complex.

Also produced by Miri, ‘Sara & Aida’ features popular Iranian actors such as Mostafa Zamani, Pegah Ahangarani, Saeed Changizian, Yaghma Golrouee, Tina Pakravan, Ghazal Shakeri and Shirin Yazdanbakhsh.

The 2017 film tells the story of two intimate friends, Sara and Aida. When the reputation of one of them is in danger they both try to help solve the situation. But how far will they go to support each other?

Born February 1, 1974 in Tehran, Miri is an Iranian filmmaker who studied Film Editing at IRIB College.

After making a few short films, assistant directing and editing films and series, he made his first feature film ‘The Unfinished Song’ in 2000.

Miri has made some movies, including ‘Gradually’, ‘Reward of Silence’, ‘The Book of Law’, ‘Saadat Abad (Felicity Land)’, and ‘The Painting Pool’.

He was elected as one of the nine members of Central Council of Directors’ Union by the General Assembly of Iranian Film Directors’ Union in 2006.

Miri and his films have won several awards, including Honorary Diploma for the Best Directing at the International Section of 19th Fajr Film Festival, Special Prize of Jury at Karlovy Vary Film Festival and Fipresci Prize at Daka Film Festival for ‘The Unfinished Song’.

His ‘Gradually’ was selected to be screened in the Program Section of the 2006 Berlin Film Festival, won Best Film Award at International Section of Fajr Film Festival as well as Best Director Award at Gijón International Film Festival in Spain.

Miri’s ‘The Painting Pool’ has received Best Feature Film Award at the 2nd Sharjah International Children's Film Festival in 2014, UNESCO Award at the 2013 Asia Pacific Screen Awards, and Best Film Award by Audiences at the 31th Fajr Film Festival.
